Apartment Hunting and Living with Strangers

Not sure what to look out for while at a open house? Here's a list I curated to find my perfect place and things I kept in mind after moving in.

When apartment hunting, it's easy to get blinded in the excitement of getting your own place. Don't be fooled! Look carefully and ask questions.

Before moving, I went on eight different websites to find an apartment in the city. Smart idea? Well not really. All those emails that I've sent out to potential roommates and landlords was a bust. Reason? I wasn't there yet so how could I secure a place or have them trust me when the only interaction we've had was through email? Fail...

For Those First Time Movers Living on Their Own

Essential things to buy and do when moving into your new home.

While reading this list, you might think, "oh I already knew to bring/buy that" but it's actually really easy to overlook those items.

When I first moved to SF, I was fortunate to have my two older sisters with me. They both moved out of our parents home and started a new life elsewhere. One of which moved to the mainland just like me! They helped to find all the moving essentials I needed for my new place of living. I added a bunch of items that were specific...

On The Hunt

Have you ever wondered how some things fall into place so easily?

Let me tell you about how wonderful it's been meeting random people in the city and what transpired from those events.

Story 1
When I first arrived to San Francisco, I realized that I had forgotten a few of my necessities, such as ALL my toiletries! How can I forget that right? No idea. Guess I was thinking more about everything else and it slipped my mind to bring my toothbrush, tawashi and face towel. Forgetting all those items, I went to a store called Daiso in Japan...

T Minus ZERO Days

The time has come. It's September 10th, Wednesday — my official moving to SF day.

It's 1:46 am, my flight is at 1:55 pm. I don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight, there's still so much more to do. Even though I have little time left, I'm writing this quick/short post before I leave the island. Ok here goes...

I'm actually at my old office trying to get some last minute things done. Why did I wait till the last minute? Note to self: print ALL documents one week in advance if you ever decide to move again.

These past few weeks have been crazy! I've been on a emotional roller coaster, laughing hysterically one moment and balling like a baby the next. I never thought I could bust out random emotions like this in an instance...

Hustle Hard, Hustle Strong

Earlier this year, I decided that 2014 will be the year I move to San Francisco. A month ago, I finally built my courage to book the ticket — a long term dream that's finally coming true.

Flight date: September 10th, Wednesday, 18 more days to go!

I sit here now at my computer, thinking about how crazy it's been and what lies a head. Before booking my flight, I was working on my website making sure that I launched it before I left Hawaii. Now that it's launched, I realize there are so many other things I need to take care of.

Everyday I go on Craigslist (along with 3 other apps I use) and contact at least 10 people trying to secure a roommate, hoping that I get at least one response. I've had a few responses, which was great! Until I found out that majority of them were scams. I was so close to finding a place in the city but in an instant, everything kinda fell through. Now, I'm back to square one.
