On The Hunt

Have you ever wondered how some things fall into place so easily?

Let me tell you about how wonderful it's been meeting random people in the city and what transpired from those events.

Story 1
When I first arrived to San Francisco, I realized that I had forgotten a few of my necessities, such as ALL my toiletries! How can I forget that right? No idea. Guess I was thinking more about everything else and it slipped my mind to bring my toothbrush, tawashi and face towel. Forgetting all those items, I went to a store called Daiso in Japan Town to buy them all. After purchasing my items, my sisters began talking to one of the cashiers who happened to be my age and from Hawaii. I didn't hear their initial conversation but while exiting the store, they told me about him. I rushed back to get his contact information.

Soon after, he texted me saying he would help me get settled in and ask his friends if they know anyone with an open room. Since then, he's been keeping my posted and asking me how I was doing. Amazing right? He's so sweet. Maybe something good will come out of this? If it's not a place, maybe the start of a new friendship?

Story 2
Last night, my sisters and I checked into a hotel. We were previously staying at a Airbnb. While checking in, there was a Japanese guy standing next to us trying to get the check-in guy's attention. It seemed like he was having a hard time. My sister started to help him and come to find out, he too is on the hunt for a apartment. I overheard their conversation and asked if he found a place yet. He said no and has been renting from that hotel day-by-day. Dang, must be expensive! I told him I'm looking for an apartment too and asked if he wanted to search together. I never saw such a big smile like that in a while, looked like everything was falling into place for him too. We met up an hour later to discuss what we needed to do. It took a while because he didn't understand certain protocols to find an apartment. It was okay though, I was glad I could help him!

After two hours, we agreed to live with each other. Instead of renting a room with already established tenants, I'm now on the hunt for a two bedroom apartment! Looked online after our meeting and made a few contacts. Got one response already and I'm about to meet with the realtor now. I hope I can get it.

I'm not sure how long it'll take to get situated, but I'm very hopeful and determined. As always, will keep you posted!
